Look What Mrs. Rukmini Vishnu Nayak Says

To prepare flavorful rasam, ensure the right balance of tamarind for sourness and rasam powder for spice. Maintain a thin, soup-like consistency and avoid over-boiling to preserve flavors. Begin by boiling tamarind water to remove the raw smell, then add cooked dal and rasam powder, simmering gently. Use fresh coriander for garnish and temper mustard seeds, curry leaves, and asafoetida in ghee or oil without burning. Prioritize fresh ingredients, avoid over-spicing, and serve hot for the best taste.

Rasam is my go-to dish whenever I feel under the weather. The tanginess from tamarind, the warmth of spices, and the subtle heat from black pepper make it so soothing. It pairs perfectly with hot rice or can be enjoyed as a light soup. Truly a taste of home!
